TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Union Pacific Railroad will likely be reimbursing Tempe almost $482,000 for bills associated to the July 2020 practice derailment, in line with metropolis officers.
They mentioned the reimbursement covers restore and substitute of broken metropolis property, incident response prices, site visitors management, environmental testing and different bills.
Metropolis Council members accepted the settlement throughout their assembly Thursday.
Union Pacific spent about $11 million to restore and substitute parts of the historic railroad bridge over Tempe City Lake.
The corporate owns the railroad bridge that was inbuilt 1912.
Union Pacific additionally repaired parts of Rio Salado Parkway and harm to Tempe Seaside Park together with bushes and streetlights.
