DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) — A person was shot and killed by police early Saturday after officers observed a hearth at a suburban Detroit mosque, authorities stated.
The armed man fled from the Dearborn mosque and fired at police earlier than he was killed, Dearborn police stated.
Police stated he refused orders to drop his weapon. No officers have been injured.
“This was a tragic incident for our religion neighborhood and the Dearborn neighborhood general that sadly led to a lack of life,” Chief Issa Shahin stated.
State police and Detroit police will examine, Shahin stated.
