BAR HARBOR, Maine (AP) — A Canadian firm that is bringing ferry service again to Bar Harbor has set a begin date of Might 19 for restoration of service between Maine and Nova Scotia.
Service with a high-speed catamaran known as The Cat will begin at 4 days per week earlier than rising to seven days per week in late June, Bay Ferries stated. Service will conclude in October.
“We’re very excited to welcome you again aboard The CAT in 2022,” the corporate introduced on its web site.
There was no ferry service between Maine and Nova Scotia since 2018, and former efforts to revive service got here up brief.
Bay Ferries operated ferry service from Bar Harbor to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, for greater than a decade earlier than shifting to Portland and ending service in 2009. Bay Ferries tried to return for the 2019 season however didn’t get the ferry terminal renovated and accepted in time. Then got here the pandemic that scuttled service in 2020 and 2021.
